Day 1 – Arrival in Istanbul and meeting at the airport

Day 2 – Sultanahmet – Old Istanbul (B)
Meeting at the hotel reception at 09:00am. We start our tour with the Topkapı palace, which was used by the Ottoman Sultans from the 15th to 19th centuries. We will also see the impressive collection of priceless jewels, crystal, silver and porcelain, robes worn by the sultans and relics of the prophet Mohammed. After lunch break we will see the Blue Mosque, built for Sultan Ahmet I, which is a unique piece of architecture with its six minarets and features 20,000 beautiful Iznik tiles. Visit the ancient Hippodrome with Obelisk of Theodosius, Snake Pillar and German Fountain of Wilhelm II. Walk through the back streets of Old Istanbul and visit the Yerebatan underground Cistern. At the end of the tour, at request, free time to see the Grand Covered Bazaar (except Sundays). *May be done as a walking tour if your hotel is centrally located. Overnight Istanbul.
Day 3- Bosphorus Cruise with St. (Haghia) Sophia & Beylerbeyi (B)

Visit the exotic Egyptian Spice Market on the Golden Horn. Board your cruise of the Bosphorus, the waterway, which separates the continents of Europe and Asia. Pass Rumeli fortress, built by Mehmet the Conqueror in 1452 to prepare for his conquest of Istanbul. Cross over the Bosphorus Bridge to Asia and visitBeylerbeyi Palace, which was the summer residence of the Ottoman Sultans, then on to Camlica Hill for a magnificent view of Istanbul. Time for lunch in a seaside fish restaurant. Visit The St. (Haghia) Sophia, which was built by the Emperor Justinian. It was the largest building in the world for over 1000 years. See its intricate mosaics and huge central dome. Order of visits may be reversed. Return to Hotel around 17:00pm.
Day 4 – Istanbul- Cappadocia (B.L)
Pick-up from hotel 2 hours before flight departure.
Take the early morning flight from Ataturk Airport in Istanbul to Cappadocia. Arrival at the airport and meeting just outside the arrival’s gate with a sign bearing your name with your driver. Transfer to Cappadocia. Tour to Kaymaklı Underground City, one of the most interesting underground settlements in Cappadocia. Drive to to Sahinefendi ( Sobesos )- Sobessos is newly discovered (01 May 2002) mosaic houses & Archaeological excavation site. Villages in the valleys, surrounded by the “table top” mountains, are spectacular. Continue with Keslik Monastery near Cemil, that hides it’s frescoes behind a very thin smoke layer which we can only see by torch light. Lunch break. Visit to Mustafapaşa (Sinasos), an old Greek town with its spectacular old Greek houses; very fine examples of late Greek settlements and architecture. Visit to Saruhan Caravanserai, a roadside inn where travellers could rest and recover from the day’s journey. Caravanserais supported the flow of commerce, information and people across a network of trade routes of Asia, North Africa and South-Eastern Europe on the legendary Silk Road and the Spice road. Continue with panorama of the Red Valley, with its fabulous volcanic rock formations, is in the heart of Cappadocia but away from the tourist crowd. Overnight Cappadocia
Day 5 – Cappadocia (B.L)

In the morning, first meeting with the lunar landscape of Cappadocia: rock formations beyond belief in Devrent valley; a journey in the past with its troglodyte houses, visit to Pasabag “fairy chimneys” where the voice of wind mixes with the “songs of fairies” near Zelve. Lunch break in Avanos, centre of terra cotta work of art since 3000 BC. and a demonstration in a traditional pottery workshop. Afternoon, visit the famous Goreme Open Air Museum and see the best examples of Byzantine art in Cappadocia in rock-cut churches with frescoes and paintings (10th to 13th century). Continue to Uchisar Rock-Castle to have a panoramic view of the valleys of Cappadocia. Overnight Cappadocia
Day 6- Cappadocia – Konya – Pamukkale (B.D)

Drive to Konya, en route, visit to Sultanhani Caravanseria, roadside inn where travellers could rest and recover from the day’s journey. Caravanserais supported the flow of commerce, information and people across a network of trade routes of Asia, North Africa and South-Eastern Europe on the legendary Silk Road and the Spice road. In Konya center, visit to Mevlana Sufi temple. Mevlana is the founder of Sufism and whirling Dervishes. Overnight Pamukkale.
Day 7 – Pamukkale – Kusadasi (B)

Discovery of Travertine terraces and Hierapolis. The travertine terraces at Pamukkale are one of the most spectacular natural wonders we ever have seen from various mineral springs in a vast white cliff side, about 200 m overlooking the plain, calcite-laden waters have dripped down over a series of terraced levels and created a fairyland of bizarre solidified cascades and shell-shaped basins. It looks like creations from snow or like balls from cotton, which gave the scenery the Turkish name Pamukkale (cotton castle): “pamuk” for cotton and “kale” for castle. Moreover the water in the basins is changing its color according to how the light enters. Drive to Ephesus, on the way, visit to Aphrodisias. Aphrodisias was primarily known as a center for the arts, specifically sculpture. The Aphrodisias School of Sculpture had a distinctive style and was very well circulated throughout the Greek and Roman world. Overnight Near Ephesus

Day 8 – Ephesus (B)

Visit to the ancient city of Ephesus. We will spend several hours walking in the footsteps of Alexander the Great, Caesar, Cicero, Apostles Paul and John and many other familiar historical names. The recently opened Slope Houses where the wealthiest Romans lived are an excellent example of sensitive excavation and presentation. The mosaics and frescos are spectacular. Tradition has it that Virgin Mary was brought here by St John after the Crucifixion and lived her final years near the city of Ephesus on an isolated mountaintop. A lovely chapel is constructed on the site tended by Franciscans and open to visitors. It has been designated a pilgrimage site by the Pope. Overnight Kusadasi near Ephesus.
Day 9 – Kusadasi – Pergamum – Canakkale (B.D)

Visit Pergamon or Pergamum that became an important kingdom during the Hellenistic period, Pergamon had the second best library in the ancient Greek civilisation (the ancient Library of Pergamum), after Alexandria. When the Ptolemies stopped exporting papyrus, partly because of competitors and partly because of shortages, the Pergamenes invented a new substance to use in codices, called pergaminus or parchment after the city. This was made of fine calf skin, a predecessor of vellum. Asclepion, located to the southwest of the lower city, was a sanctuary dedicated to the god of health, Asclepics which was one of the largest hospitals in history, is located to the west of the city, which was a great center of culture, art and medicine and continue on to Canakkale for overnight.
Day 10 – Troy – Dardanelles – Gallipoli – Istanbul – (B)

Visit Troy with its famous wooden horse, continue to Gallipoli and then across the Dardanelles to Istanbul for overnight.

DÍA 2 – SULTANAHMET – ESTAMBUL ANTIGUA (D)
Visita al palacio de Topkapi, que fue utilizado por los sultanes otomanos desde el siglo XV hasta el siglo XIX. También veremos la impresionante colección de joyas de incalculable valor, cristal, plata y porcelana, túnicas usadas por los sultanes y reliquias del profeta Mahoma. Después de la pausa del almuerzo, veremos la Mezquita Azul, construida para el Sultán Ahmet I, que es una pieza arquitectónica única con sus seis minaretes y cuenta con 20,000 hermosos azulejos de Iznik. Visite el antiguo Hipódromo con el Obelisco de Teodosio, el Pilar de la Serpiente y la Fuente alemana de Wilhelm II. Camine por las calles secundarias del casco antiguo de Estambul y visite la Cisterna subterránea de Yerebatan. Al final del recorrido, a petición, tiempo libre para ver el Gran Bazar Cubierto (cerrado los domingos).* Pernocte en Estambul.
DIA 3 – CRUCERO POR EL BOSFORO CON HAGIA SOPHIA Y PALACIO DE BEYLERBEYI (D)
Visite el exótico Mercado de las Especias Egipcias en el Cuerno de Oro. Suba a bordo de su crucero por el Bósforo, la vía fluvial, que separa los continentes de Europa y Asia. Pase la fortaleza de Rumeli, construida por Mehmet el Conquistador en 1452 para preparar su conquista de Estambul. Cruce el puente del Bósforo hacia Asia y visite el Palacio de Beylerbeyi, que fue la residencia de verano de los sultanes otomanos, y luego a la colina de Camlica para una magnífica vista de Estambul. Tiempo para almorzar en un restaurante de pescado junto al mar. Visita la Santa Sofía (Haghia), que fue construida por el emperador Justiniano. DÍA 4 – ESTAMBUL- CAPADOCIA (D, A)
Tomaremos el vuelo de la mañana a Capadocia. Después de llegar a Capadocia, comenzaremos con la visita a la ciudad subterranea de Kaymaklı, uno de los asentamientos subterráneos más interesantes de Capadocia. Continuacion hasta Sahinefendi (Sobesos): Sobesos se descubrió recientemente (01 de mayo de 2002) en las casas de mosaicos y en el sitio de excavación arqueológica. Continúa con el Monasterio Keslik cerca de Cemil, que esconde los frescos detrás de una capa de humo muy delgada que solo podemos ver con la luz de lamparas. Pausa para almorzar. Visita a Mustafapaşa (Sinasos), una antigua ciudad griega con sus espectaculares casas griegas antiguas; Muy buenos ejemplos de asentamientos y arquitectura griega. Visite Caravanserai de Saruhan, una posada en la carretera donde los viajeros podian descansar y recuperarse del viaje del día. Continuacion con el panorama del Valle Rojo, con sus fabulosas formaciones de roca volcánica, está en el corazón de Capadocia, pero lejos de la multitud de turistas. Pernocte en Capadocia.
DIA 5 – CAPADOCIA (D, A)
Por la mañana, primer encuentro con el paisaje lunar de Capadocia: formaciones rocosas increíbles en el valle de Devrent; un viaje en el pasado con sus casas trogloditas, visita a las “chimeneas de hadas” de Pasabag, donde la voz del viento se mezcla con las “canciones de las hadas” cerca de Zelve. Almuerzo en Avanos, centro de obras de arte de terracota desde el año 3000 a.C y una demostración en un taller de cerámica tradicional. Por la tarde, visite el famoso Museo al aire libre de Goreme y vea los mejores ejemplos de arte bizantino en Capadocia en iglesias excavadas en la roca con frescos y pinturas (siglos X a XIII). Continúe hasta el castillo de piedra de Uchisar para tener una vista panorámica de los valles de Capadocia. Pernocte en Capadocia.
DÍA 6- CAPPADOCIA – KONYA – PAMUKKALE (D, C)

Camino hasta Konya, en el camino, visite el Caravanseria Sultanhani, una posada en la carretera donde los viajeros podian descansar y recuperarse del viaje del día. Los Caravanserais apoyaron el flujo de comercio, información y personas a través de una red de rutas comerciales de Asia, África del Norte y el sudeste de Europa en la legendaria Ruta de la Seda y la Ruta de las Especias. En el centro de Konya, visita al templo sufi de Mevlana. Mevlana es el fundador del Sufismo y los Derviches giratorios. Pernocte en Pamukkale.
DÍA 7 – PAMUKKALE – KUSADASI (D)

Descubrimiento de terrazas travertinas y hierápolis. Las terrazas de travertino en Pamukkale son una de las maravillas naturales más espectaculares que jamás hayamos visto en varios manantiales minerales en un vasto acantilado blanco, a unos 200 m sobre la llanura, las aguas cargadas de calcita han caído sobre una serie de niveles de terrazas y han creado cascadas solidificadas y cuencas en forma de concha. Parecen creaciones de nieve o bolas de algodón, que dieron el nombre turco Pamukkale (castillo de algodón): Además, el agua en las cuencas está cambiando su color de acuerdo con la forma en que entra la luz. Luego viaje a Éfeso, en el camino, visita a Afrodisias. Afrodisias se conocía principalmente como un centro para las artes, específicamente la escultura. La Escuela de Escultura de Afrodisias tenía un estilo distintivo y estaba muy bien distribuida en todo el mundo griego y romano. . Pernocte en Kusadasi cerca de Éfeso.
DIA 8 – EFESO (D)

Visita a la antigua ciudad de Éfeso. Pasaremos varias horas siguiendo los pasos de Alejandro Magno, César, Cicerón, los apóstoles Pablo y Juan y muchos otros nombres históricos familiares. Las recientemente inauguradas Casas Terraza, donde vivían los romanos más ricos, son un excelente ejemplo de excavaciones y presentaciones sensibles. Los mosaicos y frescos son espectaculares. La tradición dice que la Virgen María fue traída aquí por San Juan después de la Crucifixión y vivió sus últimos años cerca de la ciudad de Éfeso en la cima de una montaña aislada. Se construyo una hermosa capilla en el sitio, atendida por franciscanos y abierta a los visitantes. Ha sido designado como lugar de peregrinación por el Papa. Continuaremos con la iglesia de San Juan, donde el apóstol Juan pasó sus últimos años y fue sepultado. Visita al templo de Artemisa para ver los restos de una de las Siete Maravillas del Mundo Antiguo. Pernocte en Kusadasi cerca de Éfeso.
DÍA 9 – KUSADASI – PERGAMO – CANAKKALE (D, C)

Visite Pérgamo, que se convirtió en un importante reino durante el período helenístico. Pérgamo tuvo la segunda mejor biblioteca de la antigua civilización griega (la antigua Biblioteca de Pérgamo), después de Alejandría. Cuando los Ptolomeos dejaron de exportar papiros, en parte debido a los competidores y en parte debido a la escasez, los Pergamenes inventaron una nueva sustancia para usar en los códices, llamada pergaminus o pergamino después de la ciudad.
